The Mother of Divine Grace syllabi are used as a framework for our language classes. Due to
their years of experience with Latin, and to the interactive nature of Learning Support classes,
teachers are able to go into more depth than is given in the syllabus on certain topics. Syllabus
adjustments will be provided to parents when necessary.
MODG offers several different options for learning Latin, from the introductory level Latina
Christiana courses, to the more advanced Henle and Wheelock books, and the immersion-style
Reading Method of the Cambridge and Shelmerdine textbooks.
What is the Reading Method?
Reading Method Latin goes from particulars to universal principles, whereas a traditional program
teaches concepts first, and the practices them. This method works well for students who need to
learn "on the job", who struggle with memorization, or who struggle to accomplish work without
accountability.
